CAAC-FAA Further Cooperate on ARJ21 Aircraft Certification

China and US airworthiness authorities furthered their discussions about the cooperation on ARJ21-700 aircraft certification during a China-US Airworthiness Bilateral Meeting held at ACAC operation center on Mar. 3, 2006.

ACAC made a detail presentation on the ARJ21-700 aircraft oversea supplier management and program development status to the two airworthiness authorities. Mr. Zheng Qiang, Assistant President of AVIC I and President of ACAC expressed his expectation to apply for the FAA type certificate through CAAC in the near future, and FAA official stated their willingness to support and cooperate with CAAC on the ARJ21-700 aircraft certification.

Later that day, officials of airworthiness authorities of both countries visited ARJ21 aircraft mockup and iron bird at ARJ21-700 system integration test lab.

The certification of ARJ21-700 aircraft will further extend the China-US bilateral airworthiness arrangement and enhance the development of the international market for Chinese civil aviation products.
